Mac Gaming: The Platform of the Future?

There's no doubt that Apple is one of the biggest companies in the world, much to the anger of Android and PC fanboys. Fans of PC gaming often state that Macs are overpriced and incapable of gaming. A PC with equal power to a £1000 Mac can cost less than half the price, and is able to run many more games that are not compatible with Apple computers.

However, Apple desktops and laptops are becoming massively more popular and many games companies are making Mac clients for their games. Games like Dota 2, Team Fortress 2 and League of Legends are all compatible and run smoothly on Mac.

This asks the question, will Apple eventually dominate the video game market? Maybe one day PC gamers will be laughed at by superior Mac gamers. This can already be seen by the iPhone outselling any Android or Windows phone. It could happen again if enough games become available for Mac.

For now though, PC is the clear choice for gamers wanting to play on their computers, Macs may be better for work or business but PCs are currently superior for gaming. That may change in the next few years and and Apple will further control the world.

App of the Day: Steel Commanders

Steel Commanders is a free card game on iOS and Android where you collect troops to do quests and battle other players. There are 3 different factions you can join; Pacifica, Agartha and Troy. You can use cards from any faction but cards from your own faction will give you bonus attack or defence.

Attacking other players will put your attack squad against their defence squad. If your attack score is higher than their defence score then you win the battle and get coins and honour points. Honour points increase your daily ranking, which can earn you prizes if you are ranked highly.

Card packs can be bought to strengthen your squad by spending minerals(bought with in app purchases) to get random, powerful cards with special abilities. However, these are quite expensive.

You can also battle against alien invasions with your Allies to get extra cards as rewards.

I recommend downloading Steel Commanders because it is a fun, interesting game which is free. It has good elements of strategy and is very good.

App of the Day: Airport Scanner

Airport Scanner is a free game on the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. It involves operating an airport scanner and searching bags to find weapons and illegal items such as hammers, guns and bombs. You have to be fast enough so that the flight is not delayed. The game is very simple and easy to learn, this makes it very addictive and fun.

App of the Day: Robotek

Robotek is a turn based strategy game by Hexage. Two robots battle by using slot machines to summon extra robots, attack enemy robots and more. Robotek has an interesting and impressive graphic style.

App of the Day: BTD Battles

Bloons Tower Defence Battles is a free ad supported app by Ninjakiwi on the Apple App Store. It is a tower defence game where you have to place different types of monkeys to pop attacking bloons.

My Black Ops 2 Experience

I decided to have a go of Black Ops 2 Multiplayer the other night. Seeing as my brother is obsessed with it and plays it daily, I expected that it would be good. I was disappointed. I would not spend £10 on this game, let alone £40 and extra for DLC. It just doesn't provide enough fun and enjoyment to justify that price.

I started off by playing Multiplayer, this didn't go great. I joined a game of Domination and was greeted by a man from Lithuania telling me to fuck off. I didn't even say anything, he just started abusing me immediately as I joined. This isn't what I want when I play video games. Anyway, the game started and I captured A. This was when I realised that the map was a redesign of a map from the first Black Ops, we are being made to pay extra when they can't even be bothered to make new maps.

Spawn killing is a common issue. After dying, you will often be spawned inches away from where you died, allowing the enemy to get a double kill on just one player. It happened so often whilst I was playing that I expected it to happen every time.

I tried out Zombies, which I hadn't played since World at War. It has changed a lot! It used to be simple. Open doors, buy gums, kill zombies. Now they have made it a lot more complex, you have to gather parts and construct them into objects to open doors, there are countless hidden tricks and accessing the Pack a Punch machine is usually tedious and doing it every game is boring. On Mob of the Dead getting downed will turn you into a ghost that can shock zombies and get into new areas. It's just confusing, each map is like a different game and it doesn't feel like Zombies.

In my opinion, Black Ops 2 is an annoying and frustrating waste of money. It is the worst Call of Duty I have ever played and possibly one of the worst games I have ever played. They have over complicated the simple gameplay that everyone loved in Call of Duty 4. I don't see how anyone can enjoy spending £70+ on a game that just makes you angry.
