Definitely the first choice, Bioshock Infinite is amazing! I wasn't so sure before I played it, I thought they might have changed too much from the previous games and ruined it. They certainly didn't.
Bioshock Infinite is set in Columbia, a floating city ruled by 'Prophet' Comstock and inhabited by patriotic, racist Americans. The year is 1912 and you control Booker Dewitt, an ex Pinkerton investigator who has ended up in debt. He must retrieve a girl, Comstock's daughter (Elizabeth), to wipe away his gambling debt. I won't tell you the rest because I don't want to ruin the story, you have to experience it yourself.
The main selling point of Bioshock Infinite is the amazing storyline, it is one of the best stories that I have experienced in my life. It is immersive and exciting the whole way through, with many interesting characters to meet and places to explore. The ending is the most mind-blowing, sensational ending in any game that has ever existed.
The combat is good, but isn't special. Vigors are the new Plasmids, there are a good variety of them such as Possession, Devil's Kiss and Bucking Bronco. These are powered by Salts that you can collect from dead enemies. Weapons are uninteresting and there isn't much variety between them. All you have are pistols, rifles, machine guns and rocket launchers. The enemies are cool, there are lots of different types, The Crows who can teleport and send crows to attack you, Handymen, who are extremely difficult to kill, can electrify skylines and move very fast. Motorised Patriots are gatling gun wielding models of George Washington. Combat with these enemies is exciting and fun but battles with the normal police and guards of the city get boring fast and drag on. Melee fighting is good, you have a Sky Hook that is used to ride the skylines in Columbia but can also be used like a chainsaw to rip apart the flesh of your enemies.
Near the start of the game you meet Elizabeth, she is Comstock's daughter who has been imprisoned for her whole life. When you free her she is grateful and is wiling to come with you. She helps you in fights when she is with you by throwing you ammo and salts. She can also open up tears in parallel universes that contain weapons, health packs or cover for you to hide behind.
Bioshock Infinite is amazing! I strongly recommend that you play it ASAP. It is simply brilliant.
