FIFA 12: Ultimate Team Basics

Ultimate Team is arguably the best game mode in FIFA 12 but it can be daunting and seem complicated. Here's are the basics of FIFA 12 Ultimate Team.

* Contracts - If you run out of time on a players contract then they will become unusable until you apply another contract. You will need to have a stockpile of contract cards or money to buy some for when you need them. Contracts are important because if you have no players to replace a member of your starting squad and subs and you have no contract cards and no money then you will have to restart you ultimate team, annoying if you have a good gold team.

* Players - Player cards have different ratings, bronze, silver and gold. They are sorted by their overall rating. There are also special in form players that have a black coloured card, they are basically the ordinary players but they are a few points better, these are worth loads of coins. Shiny cards can come in all colours and are rarer players than ordinary ones.

* Club - You have 11 players that start in your first squad and some extras in your substitutes and reserves. All of the rest of your players are stored in your club where they can be swapped for any player in your squad at any time. Healing, contract and manager cards are also stored in the club.

* Trading - You can obtain cards by either buying them from packs for real money or by looking for cards on the trade pile. To use the trade pile, you start a search by setting the criteria of your price range, team, league of the player and their preferred position. You will then be shown a list of cards that you are able to either bid on or buy straight away, if you have the money.

* Money - You earn money by playing matches and winning tournaments, you can also earn coins by selling players. How much you earn per match depends on how you played, there are many factors that determine the payout. Coins can be used to buy players and packs. A good way of making money is by buying players for cheap and then selling them straight off for a profit.

This is it for part one of the FIFA 12 Ultimate Team Guide and I will be making more in the near future so keep updated to see when it will be coming. Good luck!
